Well I got the engine out of the car. I was cleaning up the top of the engine when I noticed a washer in the intake, right behind the valve. I had a a vacum on hand, so I tried to suck it up. Huge mistake!!!!By the way I payed 5750, US, for the 911 sc, not bad
Anyway, The washer was nowhere to be found in the vacum. So I thinks that it dropped into the cylinder. I dont really want to take the entire valve housing off. I was thinking to flip the engine over and maybe blowing some compressed air in there, Any coments would be greatly appriciated. |

Someone suggested to me once to tape a small gas hose to the vacuum and stick it into the cylinder. Leave the vac on and pull out the hose - should be stuck to the end.
Good luck!!

Get one of those magnet's on a flex handle and go through the plug hole, if it will fit through the hole.

Also check the vacuum hose. It might have got hung up in there.

Can a borescope be rented? The upside down thing sounds reasonable. And, I agree about double checking the vacuum, but you are probably right. The washer made its way down inside. Too bad the valve was open. Otherwise, this would be nothing.

Vacuum + gas vapor => gas vapor going through electric (sparky sparky) vacuum motor. Pop goes the vacuum.
Or so I've heard... -Chris

tipping the engine sideways on an engine stand makes it easier. a stick magnet should get it though. carefully turn the crank to see if you get any resistance will tell you if it's in there. the piston will push it to the top so you might be able to see it past the open valve. you can actually open the valve farther by cranking in the adjustment screw until the spring coilbinds. then readjust when you're done of course.

It's not really a bad boo boo unless you started it with the washer in there. Don't ask how I know.

Take the borescope from your doctor.

Or so I've heard..." When I was about 15 and even dumber than I am now, I siphoned gas out of my dads car this way and totally destroyed the vacuum and the paint below the gas door. Also had to remove 5" plastic shard from my leg after vacuum blasted apart. Luckily I didn't blow up the car.

Missed that episode - did they actually get gas in the vacuum or just fumes?

They did both, gas and fumes. They used primarily shop vacs. Apparently the newer ones are designed to keep the motor away from the materials being vacuumed. It was a fun one to watch.

When you flip it over have someone watch so they can help see that it does hit the floor. I did the flip thing and didn't hear it hit the floor. I started to panic until I just happened to notice that it rolled clear across the garage floor.
