Quick and dirty a/c question
I'm trying to do a quick and dirty 134a conversion and bought the nipples and a kit from the local PepBoy/AutoZone/Murray's auto store. However the nipples didn't fit. I was told that there is not alot of quesswork to get the hi and lo pressure nipples switched out. Am I missing something?

Would the conversion fittings not screw on? Is the High side and Low side fittings the same thread on your R-12 system?

Your instance is not the first time "R-134a conversion kit" high side fittings haven't fit 911 A/C systems. Jim

There are several fittings on the schrader side of the nipples. They have other nipples behind the counter that they can sell you.

The clerks at the first store didn't seem to really get it. There are others around I'll have to try them. Thanks.
It looks like both the H and L pressure taps are the same size, 3/8ths (right?). The kit i picked up actually had three different sizes, H, L and GM (?). jeff |
That sounds right be carefull and make sure you don not turn can upside down also three cans should be fine the pressure in 134 is much higher, start with two cans run the car with a/c and then add the 3rd can if needed. You should find an a/c manifold and check you high pressre because it runs much high then r-12.

You do know, you also have to change the compressor oil? Jim
