Question Carrera Oil Cooler upgrade

Have: '82 SC Targa
Need: Carrera radiator-type cooler with fan.

What year did this oil cooler with fan begin?
What parts do I need to ask for?
- Radiator
- short oil lines
- fan
- mounting brackets

what about thermostat?

anything else?

Thanks experts!

I believe Bill is right 87' was the 1st year ..and on another note since he has a nice diagram out for us, you should change #39 to a lower temp thermo switch, its a BMW part # but is recommended in Wayne's book 101 projects. I just put my new switch in today it took about 4 hours to do. WOW what a difference in cooling...my temps never get above 9 O'clock anymore (220*- 225*) tho old switch used to kick the fan on @ 240* but now it comes on @ 210*

BMW part # is 61-31-1-364-273 Pelican has this switch and its quite cheap....you'll be glad you did the change now as you are doing the conversion instead of later having to take the cooler back out to do this.
