k&n for a 2.4?
Will putting a K&N filter on my 2.4 mfi make any noticeable difference?

Only to your wallet.
If you are using the factory airbox, the MANN filter is fine. The great Roland Kunz once said that the same size filter was sufficient for a Mercedes 450SEL 6.9. Also, the K&N cylindrical filter isn't as good a fit as the MANN. If you were thinking about dual K&N watershields, some say they actually reduce hp and torque on the dyno, some say they improve it. Again, unless you are racing (in which case you probably remove the air filter, as you're going to tear down the stock motor every three seasons anyway) it won't make a meaningful cost/benefit difference.

I found the opposite to be true on my air box and/or filters the K&N fit better. But now I have a better style K&N that is only open on one side and with a hose clamp attaches to the back of the snorkel. Before both filters were so loose in the air box they were useless.

I have used the K&N in my 2.4 for years. It fits perfectly but can't say it has any positive effect on HP.
