Rollcage install help?????????????????

I have what i believe ( was told) is a Safety Devices bolt-in roll cage for an 911SC. My car is a 1978 SC coupe.

Test fitted this weekend. and before I drill want to check with someone who has a Safety Devices rollbar/cage.

It seems to fit with one potential problem ??
In the position that I have it, I will not be able to reinstall the front seat belts. The main hoop is in the way.

I am under the impression that these bars would allow the use of the factory three point front seat belts. I am not worried about the seat belts, since it will be a track only car. More importantly I want to make sure I have it fitted correctly.

If you have one of these bars, where is the main relative to the seal belts - toward the front of the car ? Rear of right in front ?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Earl

I think someone posted on this a couple years ago, you could search a bit more.

Earl, how many point cage is it? I have an Autopower 6 point in my 78SC with door bars adn was able to reuse the stock belt mounts for my 5 point harnesses. It is tight, but they do fit.
One word of advice if you have door bars....make d*mn sure you are centered in the vehicle, otherwise your doors will not close.
If you need pics let me know.

Thanks, guys.

125shifter - i have tried searching but so far no good.

andycook - it is a 6 point cage. Right now - I can see how I could mount the front seat belt where i think the bar should eb mounted. This is were i stopped. The bar is right in fornt of the mounting point for the front seat belts - and noway it will fit. I am afraid I have the bar to far foward in the car. But I can not move it to rear anymore and keep it on the sill?

Anyway you could take a picture for me? Thanks for the heads up on the door bars.

Thanks,

Earl

I can try to shoot some for you. Mine mounted directly to the floor, not on the sills. Maybe that is the difference. I may have misunderstood you as well... Is it the top belt mount you are having trouble with? There is NO way I could evern use mine again. My cage is about 1/4: away from the B pillar in that area.
Didn't matter to me as I put in 2 new 5 point harnesses.

Andrew,

Thanks. I am referring to were the front belts mount to the side of the car. My car lines up perfectly with this, so the belt mech. can not be mounted. Funny thought it clears the top bolt that you refer to you. This is a track-car and will be mounting 5 -pts as well.

I am just a little worried about placement of the bar before I drill anthing!!!

thanks again!!

Earl

FWIW, here's my OG Racing setup... Hope it helps... You can call Stableenergies.com who distributes SD cages in the US. Good Luck. Lou

Lou,

Thanks. Thius did help. I did call Stable Energies - who by the eay has been very helpful. They confirmed , so long as the plates are flush the older bars ( which mine is) does interfer with the seat belt mounting. In fact the newer bars have a plate for mounting of the seat belts similar to yours.

So I guess i can drill. Oh goody!!

Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!!

Earl
