I'd be willing to check the car out for you but I'm not a regular mech. only back yard stuff. I sure if you call deters or black forest they'll be willing to check it out for a fee and these guys are really
good and honest.

Let me know, Dave

I have seen Black Forest listed as a suggested shop a few times. Just as a side note: They may be a fine shop most of the time but they rebuilt a 914, 2.0 engine for me in 2001. They did an extremely poor job and charged me over 6K. The engine started coming a part with less 9,000 easy miles. John (the owner of BF) refused to even look at it, as it had past its 12 month warranty. I now take my cars to shops that stand behind there work.

Thanks, I've heard good things about Black Forest. But it's easy to be 'good' when things go well. I judge people and shops by how they handle the things that don't go well.

In this case, it was a seller whose cooperation level was negligible. Couldn't make time for the car to be seen before it closed on eBay. That's usually a bad sign.

TW -
email me directly in the future. I'd be glad to help you. I bet Tom Tweed would, too. He's a great guy and very helpful.
Ping me first, in the future. Just saw this post now.

Doug

Thanks, Doug!

I did have a volunteer step up -- which I greatly appreciated -- I'll keep you both in mind!
