3.6 conversion-- won't start HELP!!

I just finish with the instalation of the 3.6 Vario ('97) engine on my '76 S.

I tried to start it but no luck. I checked the fuel pump and it seems to be working fine. I get power on the fuel pump when I cranked and I have fuel at the engine.

I don't have spark, though. I checked the coils and I do have power coming to the coils.

Any ideas where to start???

Thanks

Just power or do you see the spark signal on the coil primary?

Found the problem. I was the switched DME Connection. THe problem now is that the car won't shut off!!! I started and everything seems to work fine, but when I turn the key to stop the engine, it continues running like nothing happened. Even if I disconnect the battery it keeps running. It only stops when I disconnect the fuel pump relay.

Any suggestions?!

Thanks

Mario,

Your B+ terminal (12volt always live, battery, alternator starter) and 15+ terminal (ignition ON) are shorted together in your conversion harnss. I bet it is the 14pin connector being wired incorrectly. Don't experiment with the engine runnig and the battery being disconnected. The alternator will produce spikes without proper load that can kill the DME and other sensitive electronics.

Where did you get the harness from or is it home-made?

Good luck,
Ingo

I got the harness form Timmins, but I guess tha problem is where I am connecting the switched (ignition on). when I connected it to the fuse number 8, I was not able to start the engine, since I was not getting power when I turn the ignition on, so i change the wire to a fuse which was geting power when I was cranking the engine, but I guess i chose the wrong wire. Where should I connect the switched DME connection?

Thanks
