Why don't we let our G/F or Wives drive our Porsches ?

Am I the only one out there who won't let my wife drive my 911 anymore?
I have owned 2 911's in the last 11 years and have only one of my girlfriends ( because I wanted something really bad ) and my current Wife ( because I had too ) to drive my car. The first girl grinded the gears a few times before I told her to pull over before I had a frickin stroke!
My current wife needed to be driving me home one night ( designated driver ) when I looked at my car the next morning she had rubbed the front rim on something ( Oh my God) and ran my front spoiler over a concrete parking stop ( eeh eeh ) .
Boy I still love her because she's Hot !

We believe that she's a bad driver, but not that she's hot. Better post a picture.

Let's see. Wrote off 1st car at 4 way stop??? Second car backed into a tree stump at friends house an lodged muffler tip into trunk, when pulling away (not having noticed a bump or anything) the whole exhaust system left behind, drives home and says the car is a little loud!!??? Same car, write off while passing and t-bone person passing as they turn into their driveway. 3rd car put into first gear and proceeded to to drive away not noticing the 3 and a half foot tall flourescent yellow solid steel poles surrounding the bright red fire hydrant in the parking lot, pole under the front wheel hub pushed back and broke the rim clear off, snapped steering column and driveshaft, another done, not to mention the state of the front end of the car. Wrote off her friends car but that is another story. Ouch, this hurts recalling all this, I gotta go get a beer. Cheers.

I grudgingly let my wife drive the car and was pleasantly suprised at how well she did. Only stalled once and no grinding. She actually picked it up faster than I did when I test drove the car before I bought it.

I have only let two people drive mine. The first was a friend that has owned two Porsches in past years, so how he managed to grind the gears on every shift is beyond me. My wife has driven it several times and does excellent. The only thing she did wrong was shifting at too low RPM. After I convinced her to shift at 4000+ its all good.

All you guys talking about the women grinding gears...you see I used it to my advantage...told my wife that I WANT you to be able to drive it but that I'll NEED to get a 911 with a G50 tranny....voila...a 1988 CAB...there is a reason I'm in sales.

I'd like her to but on her first drive she left the parking brake on and cooked the shoes and rotors. She has never driven it since then. That was in '97. She refuses offers to drive it. I have actually only permitted seven people to drive it as long as I've owned it. My wife being the only woman.

I try and try but my wife won't drive it. She's afraid she'll mess up our baby. She drove it once and did fine, but then she hates driving automatics, she insist that all her cars are stick (good girl!), plus she owned and sold an '84 Carrera long before I met her. She likes me to take her on spirited topless runs, but she just won't drive it.

She drives the '73 S coupe a week prior to our track events. The '74 RSR w/2.8 twinplug at the track. A Boxster as a daily driver. She refused to drive my '68 vw crewcab w/3.2 & 5 speed.

She sounds like a great gal. I personally would be happy that she not drive the vw crewcab. I had a couple old busses and I'd not want my gal being "protected" from red-light runners by that thin piece of sheetmetal. Ok, so I'm parnanoid.

My wife used to drive our car alot before we had our son. Now, she HAS to take the truck, just to fit all of the kid crap.
She drove the my 911 very well, BTW. Not fast, mind you , but competent.

Ex wife drove my 911 and her 944 w/ a lot of gusto but a certain disregard for the line.

Current life partner drove my 911 through PA @ 95 mph while I napped, until stopped by a state trooper. She told him she was confused because she was from Canada where the speedo and speed limit are in metric, and wasn't used to my car. Then she admitted she did not have her Canadian driver's license because it had been stolen just prior to our leaving. This must have been the most fun the guy had that day so he let her go. Fortunately, he never checked my speedo, which is in mph!

Her biggest faux pas happened while the car was parked at an outdoor jazz festival in Niagara a few summers ago. She borrowed the keys to get a blanket and returned. A few hours later, when it was time to leave, she discovered she did not have the keys! We searched for an hour until they showed up at the festival office. Someone had picked them up where she dropped them, called the Ontario Provincial Police, who went to the only Pcar on the lot, opened the car, got out one of my business cards, called my office phone and left me a message! When we retrieved the keys @ the office, we told the staffer we lost a set of car keys. She held them up and shouted "Oh, the ones for the Porsche?"!

With my head spinning, as I walked out the exit gate, another staffer asked how we had misplaced the keys in the first place. I just turned to her and said "Ask my ex girlfriend."

BTW, I'm still w/ her. It's been 10 years.

While your g/f is driving the P-car, you can't use it to pick up hoochy mamas!

Do the right thing; get her a Porsche of her own. In our case, a Boxster (and yes, she drives a stick) and she's talking about a newer one to replace this one.

Guess I'm lucky because my wife has been a shifter all her life. She drives the Porsche pretty well, albeit very conservatively. I have no qualms if she wants to drive it to work or wherever. I want her to enjoy the car too as it makes those Pelican Parts bills easier to explain and unnecessary to hide.

In reality she drives it less than once a month, but hey, it's up to her.
