Replacing window seals

I'm getting ready to replace the window seals on my 930 cab. I ordered the follwoing seals:

1. Targa, Cabriolet Window Slot Seal, includes the 5 mounting clips, left and right

2. Targa, Cabriolet, Window Outer Seal, left, 911/912 (1968-89). Must be 24 1/2 inches. Left and Right

3. Targa, Cabriolet Vent Window Cap / Corner Seal, left and right(1974-94)

4. Brass Rivet for vent window caps

Is there anything I should be aware of when changing the seals? Do I need any special tools?

Also, while I have the doors apart I'd like to lubricate the window regulators. What kind of grease should I use for this? And does anyone have pictures of what I should lubricate? I've never even seen the inside of the door.

Oh, I was also thinking about installing sound padding like dynomat. Any tips or ideas regarding this?

Thanks in advance!

For the outer window seals, I would recommend soaking the metal pieces the seals slip (are forced into) in extremely hot water to get the metal to expand a bit, lube up the piece you are going to work with (a rubber protectant works well) and then start feeding one end in while pulling the other. It takes a lot of time and patience to do it right. The clips pieces should be able to snap right into the receivers for the old stips. The rest I don't know about - not having a cab.

Thanks for the tip! I have no idea what any of this stuff looks like so this will be an adventure. I'm sure I'll have more questions once the pieces arrive next week

Any thoughts on dynomat? Is that pretty standard stuff? Also, I read somewhere that there is a plastic liner in the door. Would the dynomat replace this or no?

Dynamat is not a replacement for the “Door Liner”.

The door liner is “Clear Plastic” that adhears to the door. It prevents moisture from damaging the door panel.

Dynamat is a sound deadener – Yes Porsche used some sound deadening in the door and interior of the 911.

In the door – Porsche has a square of sound deadening installed more for balancing the door for proper balance.

I am a “Stereo Buff” and used Dynamat Extreme in my interior restoration in my 930.

I gutted the interior down to the bare metal – I have the entire interior lined with Dynamat Extreme including the doors.

My interior is incredibly quite and the Audio is unbelievable.

I added weight – However with my built 3.3 “Under Construction” – The added HP will more than compensate.

My 930 interior was finished with Raspberry White leather interior – Classic Grey 993 8-way power seats – Classic Grey “Sliver Knit” carpet and of coarse a “Nardi” steering wheel.

I could write a book on the process – Hope this gives you a little assistance.

Dynamat is pricey – You will see how quick you run out of Dynamat – I used about 100 Sq Feet

Good Luck.
