Cam / Cam Tower question
Got the right cam tower on with little drama. Torqued down 3 steps - 50% torque - followed the pattern, 75% torque, followed patterm, 100% torque, followed pattern. right side, cam slipped in - turned fine.
Left side - did the same thing - TWICE and cam is a little sticky still. Anybody have any suggesstions - even when I unloaded it was a little tight. Anything else I should try?

Jeremy,
Recheck the heads and tower mating surface for burs or traces of old sealant, after cleaning thoroughly ... even a spot 0.002" or 0.003" could upset the cam turning. Mating surfaces must be spotless and flat for proper sealing and free-turning cam!

Thanks Warren - I was afraid someone would say they - this is the 2nd time I have cleaned this - after my Torque wrench too a crap the last time. Any easy way to get rid of Locktite 574?

Jeremy,
Berryman Chem-Dip is what I would use on the cam tower -- outside on a table with a prevailing breeze, for sure, if possible! For the head's mating surfaces -- HD paint stripper, aircraft grade, if available. It is nasty, and a charcoal-filtered respirator is required, or should be used, IMHO, but a lot easier to deal with than the Chem-Dip in terms of nasty halogenated solvents -- which I won't even attempt to use in my garage ... because those fumes can linger around and drift into places you don't want them in! I don't need surprizes lingering around that could hurt the pets or wife!

Jeremy,
Chemtool is not the same product as Chem-Dip, which is the vat-type soaking carburetor cleaner for disassembled parts. Chem-Dip comes in a one gallon paint can container!

I have the one gallon paint container with the dipping screen - so will have to check the name.
Thanks
