Why does engine die when I remove oil cap?

Just recently engine would kill when removing oil cap. The only thing I've done is adjust valves and MSD. Tune up 1500 miles ago

I think this is a good thing. It means you have no vacuum leaks. Removing the oil cap creates one.

Idle should drop, but it shouldn't die.

I'm glad there are know vacuum leaks, its a bit of a chore to check oil level though, and don't recall having any leaks in the past because idel would drop noticeably the but never die.

What RPM does your car idle at? Hows your fuel mixture?

vash 08-08-2005 07:22 AM

"cone" in oil filler neck hose, is missing or skewed. (it is called a restrictor in the parts catalog)

Bill Verburg 08-08-2005 07:31 AM

this has been gone over repeatedly
Once

twice

thrice

I was under the assuption that the 3.2 had a restrictor not the 3.0. Does anyone have a part number?

vash 08-08-2005 09:44 AM

part number is in the first link, that bill provided.

Moke81 08-08-2005 04:47 PM

Parts Heaven says that number is the oil tank

Bill Verburg 08-08-2005 07:12 PM

The first # is the '81 tank that first used the restrictor, the second #930 107 289 00 is the actual restrictor.
