Porsche Crest Cool! Building a 917

I haven't had a chance to go completely through this web site, but they seem to be documenting the build of "The last new 917". This includes the assembly of the engine. Check out this oil pump!

They also have some interesting section on a 908 gear box (note the resemblence to a 915)

and an 804 F1 engine.

Enjoy!

Just follow the link. There are also lots of pics on the Gunnar Racing site. They did all the "coach" work.

Fantastic colleciton of parts and fabrication skills!

Here's a 917 kit for the rest of us on a budget.

Those kits were available from some British company a few years ago for around 50 grand.

Wow amazing.. I would love to hang out in that garage when they were building that thing up!

The engine is a sight to behold! Is it 'just' like two 911 motors bolted togeather?

When I saw the 944 Porsche motor and read about it, it was said that its basically half a 928 V8 and when I looked at my old mint 928S2 engine I could belive it. Is it the same case with this 917 engine?
