Beware Agla !!!
I've been waiting to post this I got my money back from my CC Co.
Just look at what ALAN GUN of AGLA Inc. did to my original wooden steering wheel ! And it only took him 16 weeks to do it. 16 weeks of BS, dog ate my homework stories and just plain lies. He even threw in a couple of sob stories of how I didn't understand what it was like to be him and how his "business" kept him from his family...sniff, sniff, ( my ass !) ! Pitiful. ...and then it comes back like THIS ! ![]() The pics don't show how the wood finger knobs were sanded flat and the rough orange peel finish of the "gloss" coat. I am not convinced he even sent back the wheel I sent - hard to tell with what is left. Don't let this happen to you. John ![]()

Those pictures do look kinda bad. I didn't know AGLA did non-leather steering wheel refurbishing.

Why on earth would you send a wood-and-metal steering wheel to a company named Alan Gun Leather Accessories?

The main reason I went to them first was because the thing in most need of restoration was the leather horn pad . The rest of the wheel just needed to be cleaned up and that was the understanding. Why would I send my wheel to a place that assures me they have been restoring steering wheels for 20 years ? That advertises in Excellence and Pano (for as many years) ?
Granted, I made a BIG mistake - can't change that, just want to be sure they don't ruin any others. And from a search here and on the Early 911 S reg. I see they don't such a good job with leather either. John

Took them forever to send a reskin kit for my 911 wheel. Finally gave up on them and reported them to my credit card company for charging me for the item but never shipping the item. Reskin kit finally arrived but it was packed so poorly that half the stuff was missing. Sent the kit back to AGLA.

I had a run in with these guys on a 951 shift boot set up - I think it is a " one horse " kind of operation if you know what I mean.
They do advertise in all the " right " places and constantly sell their stuff aka " kit's " on Epay all the time. Also info only if you order the shift boots or wheel covers from *********** guess what , they are the same products, AGLA must provide them the stuff to sell.... ![]() T ![]() |

This is all an excellent case for doing it yourself. What can be so hard about working with a bit of leather and paint? Like my mother always told me, "If you want it done right, do it yourself." We've become one big Service Culture, constantlyl turning to the serviceperson to do it for us. Our grandfathers--and grandmothers--would be shocked.

That's terrible.
Their customer service reputation, however, is pretty spotty. Lots of dissatisfied cstomers, lots of long delays, and lots of suspicion about swapped wheels. The funny thing is, that reputation goes back at least 10-12 years, and they still haven't fixed their workflow problem. I believe Alan sends his stuff out to various subcontractors and stay-at-home moms. So the results are inconsistent.

I know I could have done it better myself, but I thought a professional could do it better than a first timer. Made the mistake of assuming AGLA was professional .

How much is that wheel worth?
You comtacted the credit car co. (CC Co it says above?) That's good. But like I post everyone of these things (and there seems to be a spate of them recently) - contact the Attorney General's office in the state they operate in and where you live. (Assuming the facts are as presented, etc.). It's not just that these guys are hurting car owners -- tehy are also hurting legitimate businesses -- and we _depend_ on the latter for parts, service, restoration and other needs for our cars. In medicine there is a board that deals with the small % of "bad docs" - same in law... Everything else goes to a general state agency.

Yeah, but it's Florida, I'm not sure the rule of law applies there anymore.

JCF,
Perhaps with your attitude towards Florida you deserved to be screwed ![]() Now seriously, that looks like a botched job at best. I would raise hell with AGLA and also with the authorities. Not sure how far this will get you but at least you can try. I'm sending you a PM
