Fender Flares

1974 911s

I'm going to have the car repainted in the winter and was thinking of putting some fender flares on the rear. Perhaps the Carrera flares, turbo would cost too much (replacement of rockers & rear bumper)

Any suggestions? I am just looking to have a little bit fuller look than the stock 911 s look. I searched Pelican but they did not have them.

Thanks,

Stephen

SC/Carrera or Turbo, you will need to replace the rear bumper extensions and rockers not the bumper, the only difference is
Turbo, you need all 4 corners and SC/Carrera only need to add the rears

If you are going to flare, use steel. The weight savings with FG are minimal and steel is much better and more durable for street driving.

The cost of the flares does not seem to be much be the cost of the the rear bumper extensions and rockers is what will get me.

If anyone has a set of steel flares or FG flares they want to sell, send me an email with price info.

I guess I should get the flare first and then match the rear bumper extensions and rockers to the width of the flares? Is there a chart someone can point me to that will explain what a narrow body flare C2 would add. wide body would add, turbo would add?? I just don't want to start buying mixed match items and then find out I need lots of filler... hahah

Go with the turbo look.
Love that look.

I had a mid year and bought an SC due to excessive rust. I can tell you that even the SC 9 inch flares add some hips to the car. I had been considering doing turbo bodywork to the car, but the SC flares really satisfied my taste for some curves better than I had expected.

I just finished mine. I welded in rear SC flares I got on EBay. I paid 120.00 for two rear quarter panels and then cut the flares from them. I spent 25.00 on the two rear flare extensions. I haven't gotten the rocker panles yet because I am unsure whether I was going to use them again or not, but they go for less than 100.00 used. Not much in the way of costs, if you do it yourself. If you have someone do it, it may be pricey for the welding. It does make the rear end look beefier. I think it is a great modification.

I have after market steel flares on mine as well. Front and Rear. I would recommend that you put flares on both the front and rear of the car. I think it looks just a tad odd for only the rears being done.

My opinion only....

930 flares need to be installed in f/r pairs

SC/Carrera only goes in the back

Budget for some big wheels and tires and f/r bumper caps if you go 930

the SC/Carrera 9" flares look ok w/ 7s, better w/ 8s almost the same w/ 9s
