Door mirrors, bolt on replacements?
Hello all,
I have been doing some thread searching here for some good door mirror replacements for the weather worn ones on my car now. One of the pervious owners had a passenger mirror installed in the same location on the door as is the mirror that is installed on the driver side. So I got mounting holes already in place that I want to reuse since I want this swap/upgrade to be free from any body work. My question is what mirrors can I use? I kind of like the Vitaloni California mirrors, but I am not sure if they are a drop in replacement. I am trying to stay away from chrome, but if that is my only option I will take it. I would really like to have a passenger side mirror that is not hidden by the A pillar. Thanks, Jason ![]() ![]() ![]()

The passenger mirror doesn't go in the same place as the Driver's side as you probably already know. I had to learn the hard way.
Kinda defeats it's purpose when you can't use it. Piller in the way...right ??? Brace your self for body work. Ask me again how I know'd. You can repaint them. Very easily. And when done, get some black vinyl mirror covers for them. Or just get the covers and forget it. They hide a multitude of sins and knicks. ![]()

The Vitaloni mirrors are nowhere near the quality of OEM mirrors. They vibrate a lot! I put some on my 280Z for about a day. Someone actually wanted the passenger one, the other went in the trash. I'd suggest finding good used Porsche mirrors.

Whoa.....I din't catch " Vitaloni" Get rid of it quick.. Looks Mickey Mouse big time. Go to E-Bay. Run, do not walk........
Oh... you will still need bodywork. Just felt something kick me in the ass.....again. I had the correct mirror but drilled the holes in the wrong place........ Bodywork = $100 and piece of mind.

Hey Jason,
I noticed that when I was driving your car Sunday. I figured it was one of those things with the early cars. No, really, I did.

You know first hand Wayne how annoying it is.....
Porsche put holes there for a mirror, so they should have made a mirror to go there, right? From what I read even a stock chrome 74 mirror does not bolt there. I really like the style of the 74 mirrors just not in chrome, not because they will not look good but because they would make a better "laser" target than I need ;-)
