Fitting 9"

I have been thinking about using 9" Fuchs in the rear of my Carrera. Last night I looked up in my fenders to see how much room I could gain by rolling the fenders. It looks like I would only gain 1/4 of an inch. I would hate to purchase the wheels and have them not fit. You guys using 9" Fuchs, did you have any significant problems fitting them? Also anyone have a pic of a 9" Fuchs tucked up in the fender?

Doubt you'll have issues with the rears, but you'll want to roll the front fenders if you move your 7's to the front.

+15mm o/s 9" Fuchs w/245/45 x15s fit w/o any trouble or mods even on ver low cars.

Not Fuchs but 9". No problem running 255s. May be a different offset though.

Thought I had a back view. I'll try to take one and post it later.

o/s can make a big difference

look here for 911 wheel fitments

Mark Wilson 08-19-2005 08:55 AM

9's won't be a problem if your car is straight.

If you want to compare the specs of these wheels and Fuchs or others Bill has compiled alot of info.

disclaimer:: i am sorry in advance, but it is friday.

my girl has the same problem, you know fitting 9".

there i am done.

Vin-barrett 08-19-2005 11:58 AM

Sorry in advance for noob question.

If my 83 SC has 6 and 7's on it can I just move my rears to the front and just get two 16x9's for the rear?

In otherwords are the 7's on the back specific to the rear of the car?

Jeff 08-19-2005 12:05 PM

You can move them to the front but you may have to roll the lip of your fender if you lower your car.

Meka 08-19-2005 12:44 PM

Where are the most common areas that rub with 7s" on the front?

12 o'clock then 9

Nota big fan of rolling, too much chance of paint cracking, I would slice the lips off w/ an air powered hacksaw.

Don't froget to seal the edges after.

Great pictures Jeff! Thanks. What make rims do you have on your car? The center cap looks like Momo but not sure.

jamesjedi 08-19-2005 03:17 PM

I have 9 inch Fuchs with 245's. My fenders are not rolled. There are no rubbing issues. I did have a small rubbing problem with the 8' fronts and the 225's. That can happen especially when the car is very low, as mine was. I simply raised the ride hight by a couple of mm's.
In my incredibly irrelevant opinion: 8 & 9 inch fuchs look incredible. These rims really change the "stance" of your car. Also, they are superbly made. You may also want to consider the Ruf 17 in rims. However, both are pricey.

If you want pictures I can post (if I can figure out how) tomorrow.

I agree the 8 & 9 is a geat combo

the Rufs in MO are too heavy and don not have the rep of others on track(they do look nice), try Fikse or Kinesis or Lindsey for 17s

Jeff 08-19-2005 03:31 PM

Meka, They are Simmons "F- Series" 3 piece rims. They are 7.5 & 9 x 17. They look great in person and I love the deep dish they have.

Here's a set....

They are gorgeous...to nice! I like the look of my faded Fuchs, not so pristine...... but maybe I am wrong.

Meka 08-19-2005 05:37 PM

If I use 8" in front rather then the 7" I had planed wont I have even more concerns with rubbing. Or with the 8" is most the added width on the inside of the rim?
