Schnorr Washers - Which way to they go?
These are the serrated edge, conical shaped special lock washers used with various cap bolts for CV joint bolts, upper strut, etc. Which way do they go, concave facing bolt head or other way around??

I upgraded the bolts and washers on my drive shaft a short while back. Could not locate any information regarding the installation of Schnoors therefore, I assumed it didn't matter which direction they were installed.
Anyone know for sure? |
Concave side faces away from bolt or screw head.

Good question.
Schnorr Safety washers “S” I understand it is with the convex toward the bolt head and concave toward the CV “moon” plate. This is how Porsche originally installed them (when the bean counters allowed the engineers to prevail). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1124753064.jpg Adolph Schnorr GmbH & Co. Always use new Schnorr washers and 12.9 bolts. Re-torque again after some driving. Best, Grady |
