Schnorr Washers - Which way to they go?
These are the serrated edge, conical shaped special lock washers used with various cap bolts for CV joint bolts, upper strut, etc. Which way do they go, concave facing bolt head or other way around??

I upgraded the bolts and washers on my drive shaft a short while back. Could not locate any information regarding the installation of Schnoors therefore, I assumed it didn't matter which direction they were installed.
Anyone know for sure?

Good question.
Schnorr Safety washers “S” I understand it is with the convex toward the bolt head and concave toward the CV “moon” plate. This is how Porsche originally installed them (when the bean counters allowed the engineers to prevail). ![]() Adolph Schnorr GmbH & Co. KG Stuttgarter Strabe 37 D-71069 Sindelfingen (Maichingen) Germany Schnorr Corporation 4355 varsity Drive Suite A Ann Arbor, MI, USA 48108 Phone 734-677-2683 Fax 734-975-0408 Here is their contact: sales@schnorr.com Per Wayne’s 101 Projects for Your Porsche 911 page 116, torque the CV bolts to 61 ft-lbs for M10 bolts or 34 ft-lbs for M8 bolts. Always use new Schnorr washers and 12.9 bolts. Re-torque again after some driving. Best, Grady |
