Thanks RoninLB, one other think to eliminate is that the electrical piggyback switch can jam or malfunction which makes you think it is the keycylinder. When it happens, remove piggyback and see if the key is jammed without piggyback electrical in place. Hope this helps.

1988 Carrera. My key just got stuck in the ignition.
The car was running. I went to turn it off, the key didn't move. After attempting to turn it off, by reflex, I let my foot off the clutch and it stalled. My point is, the key was stuck in the on position, just left of center. I got a hammer and tapped the back of the key into the cylinder. (NOT the side of the key). I heard it click and release. I don't know what the problem was, but the key is out now. |
