Monterey weekend
This past weekend was a car lover's orgy of sights and sounds. The famous Chapparals were at Laguna Seca, lots of Porsches about on the track and in the parking lots. Definitely hit my overload switch!

The IMSA session was over the top for me. The 935's, RSR's versus the BMW's and Monza's was a great spectacle.

I'm so happy the 935s and their rivals, especially the Batmobiles, are showing up at the Historics. When I started going way back when, those cars were not permitted as they were then too recent. Time brings goodness, I guess.
Who's is the brown 911 with the butcher's markings?

I don't know but I am not into the bulky front bumper of the Brumos Porsche. Reminds me of MikeZ gone wild with glass and bondo on Frankenstein....

I thought that these cars looked MUCH better on the track:

And the last few I brought into work today:
![]() ![]() Oops, just a little wide coming out of 11. ![]() ![]() Bruce Canepa showing his winning form (#12) ![]() ![]() I wonder what happens if I really get onto the gas coming out of turn 11? ![]() I love the "dancing" by the SCCA corner workers after the spin. And no, there was no use of the "chrome horn" by the #77. Tom

Oh, and I guess that I shouldn't be a snob, so here are a couple of non-Porsche shots:

Dave, I had a call from a friend of mine that was heading north to Santa Maria Thursday am. Said he saw a caravan of Porsches making their way north. He was under the impression that Arnold had removed the speed limit for the day.
![]() Looks like a great time. I have this on my calender for next year. ![]() TMH, great shots!

Would that be Hap Sharp in the Chaparral? It's not Jim Hall.

Great shots TMH! I drove the mini up since i had no time to service the 914-6 before the weekend. Up to o'dark thirty tuesday nite helping install graphics on Paul Kramer's "Mad Cow Disease" 934 (hey it wasn't pink so BEEF it became!) Some of the races were on the boring side (the organizers want a show rather than real racing) yet the trans am group and imsa group put on a race and a show on sunday with lots of sliding, lead changes- GREAT fun!

Jim Hall drove the 2E, Vic Elford drove the 2J sucker, Jim Hall Jr drove the 2F< his first time ever in a wing car, Brian Redman drove the 2D. They also gave rides at other times. I did not see Hap Sharp there whenever i was around them.
