already did a search.........
I'm looking for anyone that has used their stock bumper and fitted the ruf bumpers over it. How did you mount the ruf piece over the stock bumper? I'd appreciate any details. Thanks. Last edited by Par911; 08-26-2005 at 03:27 AM.. |

The Ruf bumpers do not fit over the stock bumbers they replace them. The correct term is bumper cap.
There are also Ruf valances that only replace the stock valance under the bumper

I have the RUF valence that attaches to the stock bumper,
on the bottom side, and then connects to the accordians on the side. If you are getting the entire valence and bumper cap, you may need to fabricate a mounting mechanism. I can drop by and help you noodle it out if you want. (But I am out of town next week, back after Labor Day)...

Thanks Bill and Emery.
I purchased the BW motorsports Ruf bumper caps. Basically I am trying to decide whether to use Nerf bars, or as I have heard some people do, mod the OEM bumper to fit underneath the bumper cap. I've never seen any info on this, and I was wondering if anyone has done it. Is the install painful? Which would provide better protection? |

I used Brads Nerf bars, nothing high tech, but not that heavy either. I was originally going to fab something from al. extrusions but never got around to it. The 964/993 pieces might also fit especialy if you don't mind doing some trimming.

Pari,
The aluminum bumper will not sit under the fiberglass without cutting and some fabrication of brackets. Your goal is to create a subframe/bumper that looks like Bill's 993 sub-bumper. You will have to trim and cut the alum. bumper. I wouldn't be too concerned about the front. Concentrate on the rear. |

Wow, that looks real cool Bill. Do you have a part # for it? I wonder if I can fab up something like that with my OEM bumpers. From the look of it, it will require cutting my stock bumpers like you say Souk. Thanks for the replies fellas.
Anyone modded an OEM bumper to fit underneath an aftermarket one? Got pics? Last edited by Par911; 08-26-2005 at 09:25 AM.. |
