Oil Level Sensor
I replaced the oil sensor this morning, following the instructions in Wayne's book. The oil level gauge still does not work. I am not inclined to replace the gauge ($250), if that is in fact the problem, since the gauge is borderline useless. But it is annoying that the gauge is not working. Any suggestions (other than replace the gauge) as to determine why it is not working?

You could have tested the gauge and all of the wiring from the oil tank forward by substituting a 1K potentiometer ... before you bought the sender, if you had done a search of the Pelican archives!
A used gauge can be found for under $50 ... on the parts board, or eBay.

So much for my easy fix! What is a 1K potentiometer? I did a Google search, saw some pictures, but I am still clueless. Sometimes, it's not easy being a newbie.

A potentiometer is a variable resistor ... such as what controls the volume on your radio in the car. Radio Shack or any electronic supply will have one ... 1K is 1000 Ohms.
