Backfire after tune-up
HELP! I replaced my point/cap/rotor over the wekkend and after installation my car does not start and backfires very very loud.........I put the wires the right way....what can be wrong?

Did you remove the distributor? If not then recheck your points gap and even though you think the wires are on correctly, double, no triple check. Make sure when the engine is at Z1 that the rotor is pointing at #1 on the distributor cap and that the #1 wire is in the right place.

Sounds like you got a wire mixed up to me. Check it again.

Make sure the spring loaded center metal sprong inside the distributor cap did not get wedged/crambed all the way up, and freely moves so it may apply pressure to the top of the rotor.
