Power Seats
Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting power seats in a 1986 911? The front adjustment works intermittently while the rear adjustment (for the seat base) does not work at all. I pulled the seat and could find no obvious loose wires, although the mechanism for the rear seat control does appear to bind.
Any help will be appreciated. |

Likely a broken switch. Mine did a very similar thing - intermittent, then died. When I took the switch out, the inside exploded. Unfortunately the replacement was a little pricey.

Ditto, mine were corroded on the contacts on the inside. Apparently it is possilbe to take them apart, clean them, and put them back together. I broke mine putting it back together. I ended up using these:
http://www.itcelectronics.com/pdtl.asp?P=3498 mounted in a peice of sheet metal in the place of the OEM switches. harder to connect, but can't beat the price. jason

My switches needed cleaning in two different sets of seats I have had. Be careful prying them apart and be prepared for little parts to fall out as it comes apart. Take your time and they will go back together and work fine.

Thanks for the prompt response. I hope that cleaning the switch will do the trick.
