JE Pistons finishing
Thought I'd share my observations on my 9.5CR 95mm 3.0 JE Pistons.
I noticed that on all of the cylinders, there were residual drilling scraps clinging to the oil ring holes. THese came away fairly easily with a tweezer or with a kimwipe. These scraps would each be big enough to clog a squirter, spray bar hole, or ruin a bearing. I also found each wrist pin oil channel had one side partially blocked with aluminum pushed over in the drilling process. I used a dremel with a dentist bit to smooth this out in each side. Of the two channels on each side of the piston, one was always cleanly drilled and the other always had a little residual metal. Must be due to the rotational direction of the drill. I opened them up in order to avoid starving of one side of the wrist pins. Here is a pic of where I smoothed out. I'm pointing to the rough side of one of the passages to show where I'm talking about. ![]() Hope it helps someone.

Thanks for the tip. Be sure to CC your motor. I received 2 set of the "9.5:1" 98mm JE's and they CC'd out to 10.5:1.

Hi Chris,
THanks, I will. I guess if they do test that high I'll have to go dual plug ;-)
