How do you store your 911 for winter?

As the snow is just around the corner and it will be my cars first winter north of the Mason Dixon. I was wondering what everyone up north does to their cars for the long cold winter sleep?? I won't be around much ( skiing in Utah), so I'd like to hear what everyone recommends.

9dreizig, as a fellow NH'r I've had pretty good luck in storing mine for these sometimes long NH winters. Wheather it is being stored in a heated or non heated place you must change the oil before storing. Clean and cover it up after changing oil, and hook up a battery maintainer. I have found that putting moth balls, (you can get cinnamon scented ones so your car will smell like apple pie in the spring), in the enging compartment and passenger area keeps the critters from building nests in your car.
Now you may get temped to start the car during the winter just so you can listen to her. DON'T DO IT because this will build up condensation that you will not get rid of until you get the engine up to operating temp for a period of time. I have also put a small fan on low blowing across the car to keep the air circulating so that stale air doesn't settle into the interior. Also fill the fuel tank and add gas stableizer to it. You want the tank full so there is less chance of rust forming in the tank. Other than that, unless you're going to work on her during the winter, give her a big hug a pat on the rear end and tell her you'll see her in the spring.

Absolutley nothing....in fact getting out on some nice snow pack is some of the best driving days.

Have the housesitter take it for a little spin once a week. Be sure he washes the salt off.

I have stored mine on a soft surface and stored it on a concrete surface and never had problems with flat spots.

There are two good things about storing your car. One, is the work gets done on it during storage so you don't feel as bumb out that it is a beautiful day outside and your car in on a lift. Two, the first ride in the spring feels like the first ride all over again. There has to be some good in everything.

Todd, this is probably the best thread on the subject:

Winter storage checklist?

Why are you thinking about this now? We've got 3+ months!

Its the 4th day of September and you're planning for winter??

Nothing like getting started early.

I just park mine in the garage that is kept at about 50 degrees.
Leave the windows down to save the rubber seals and cover with a nice soft cover. I also add several large bags of dessicant- not sure if it does anything since I did find a little white mold on the leather last year.

Bring it down to Arizona, we will "store" it for you! We drive year around and love it!

Years ago while living in Europe I had a set of snows on BBS wheels and drove my 911 there year around. The car is excellent on snow with the right tires.

I could use a spare track car for December time trials. Send it to LA.

The generosity of my fellow Pelicans continues to amaze me. I think I"ll have one of you watch it for me over the winter. I am undertaking a search now for a hot blonde to deliver it to one of you guys. As soon as I receive you signed permission slips from your wives I'll decide who can take it for the winter.

What do you mean by the word "store"? Is that like parking it in the garage overnight?
