Question Castrol SRF mix?

Can you mix Castrol SRF with other fluids such as Motul?

(Ignoring the fact that mixing an $80 fluid with a $13 fluid isn't that intelligent......)

no, it will explode.

In all seriousness, base chemicals are different, so I don't think it's a great idea. why would you want to? just buy some more SRF if that's what is in there. My guess is you have a track day this weekend and you're low on fluid, and you can't find SRF locally. hmm.

I think your best options if this is true and you are truly low are to find some SRF or flush the whole system with DOT 4 and bleed.

Not my car - it is a customers' who bought his 996 TT with SRF in the system. He rightly believes that SRF for his street use application is complete overkill - I advised him to do a complete flush with Motul.

SRF is needed only in circumstances where all else has been done to alleviate brake cooling issues and one still gets fluid boiling or a significantly soft pedal.

I can't get an absolutely straight answer from Castrol, but I did get this:

"Mixes with conventional polyglycol fluids."

Garage
All of the Dot, 3.4, and 5.1 can be mixed. You do get greatly reduced performance
