Sparkplug help

I have a 69 911E,with 40ida Webersm and I was wondering what spark-plugs are recommended. I hope something other than the $15.00 ones, though if that is what everyone is using I'll buy them.

Stock plug lookup shows:

Bosch - 3DP0 O.E. SPARK PLUG E,S; Gap=.024

NGK - NGK Traditional spark plug 1034 BP7ES 0.024

PMO recommends NGK BP5ES for carburated 911's. I followed their Recommendations when I switched my 69 to carbs because of the motor modifications I did. With my MFI I used the BP7ES and got great performance. In the 70's I'd buy them by the case at a wholesale place for 68 cents apiece. Oh for the good old days.

For the B7-ES, I have read recommendations on this board for gaps of .028" - .032". I have also seen recommendations for .024". Does it really matter, and if so, what is the REAL recommended gap for B7ES?

By the way, I had the W3DP0's ($15 each) in my MFI 2.7 RS Spec motor, and they were WAY, WAY too cold!

Thanks,

JA

I use NGK BP5ES.

I foul on BP7ES.

Maybe you should try the 7's and read your plugs. You'll know soon enough. I'd run the factory gap with stock CDI.

I had fabulous success with the Denso iridiums when the Bosch plugs kept breaking up at high RPM. Try www.densoiridium.com for info. Expensive though at $12 each. Foe my application it was well worth it. Remember to use the correct heat range.

Best regards,
