Winter model project - New from Tamiya

http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/24279porsche911/index.htm

I've got at least 5 plastic models that I have not even started yet....but they are all going on the back burner as soon as I can get my hands on this!

Nice. You might also want to keep yours eyes open for some of the long discontinued Fujimi made models. Anything from a 911R to the 85 930 can be found on Ebay from time to time. The detail on my unbuilt 930 is pretty impressive.

I'm going to make an effort to work on some models this winter; haven't had a chance to get into a model in a few years. Besides the 930, I've got a 240z and a 1/16 scale Ferrari 512BB. And to add another iron in the fire, I just acquired a very rare Gunze Sangyo 250 GTO earlier in this week. I plan on using this stunning example as motivation.

Good luck on your project!

Paul

I built the Tamiya 934RSR 1/12 scale kit a few years ago. AWESOME model, the detail is incredible. Tamiya doesnt make a bad product.

FYI, dont buy the Pocher 1/8 scale 993 kit. the quality sucks.

Hey! I built the black one and thought it was pretty good! Many beers went in to the making of that thing. Not saying it's a Tamiya, but it doesn't suck by far!

Pocher's level of detail pales in comparison to Tamiya's. Compare the engines. I bought one of the Pocher 993's and then resold it.

True, the level of detail could be better in some areas, and their design could be better too. For example, I don't like the way they handled the door window glass, with the little sticker that's supposed to represent the frame. Engine detail is not too good either, but that's where the superdetailer can shine, in making his own. Other stuff wasn't bad though, like the wheels with their individual lug nuts, etc. Overall, just sitting on the shelf, the model looks pretty good. I kept it,
