Full View Race Mirror
Looking for some options for a widened race type rear view mirror. I'd like to retain the OEM mirror or have an easy wasy to install and remove the race type. Any suggestions? I drove a 930 last weekend that had a 6" high stepped mirror all the way across the windshield. It was so awesome to see everything on the track.

I have one of the parabolic jobbies. Clips right over the existing mirror. I like it, but some people complain about the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" effect.

I use a parabolic one, too. No more blindspots. I leave it on for street driving so I'm pre-adjusted to the 'objects in the mirror are closer than they appear' phenomenon.
I/O Port Racing sells them for twenty bucks.

The movie "Cannoball Run" comes to mind. I don't have the exact words, but one of the drivers was being asked about his rearview mirrors. He then ripped it off and threw it away saying "What is behind me is unimportant"

Thank you for the correction! I guess I got it confused with the other bad 70 and 80's car movies! I'm always tempted to pull out that line when I'm paired for a DE with an instructor.

(Remember that they were still getting used to seatbelts back then too!) ---- Oh, and the multi panel mirror that you found is called a Winks mirror. Believe or not the cheapest place to find one is at JC Whitney or every once in a while you'll find one at Walmart.

Couple of things to keep in mind:
The wink style mirrors are not safety glass AFAIK, and the idea of having hard or sharp stuff in front of my head at the moment of impact makes me nervous. I've seen those style mirrors in junk yard cars, all busted up with scalpel-like shards in the front seats. Obviously the point would be to not hit anything, but ask yourself the question, "if I hit the wall or another car do I want that wink mirror there?" Maybe not an issue, just something to contemplate. |

I have a "lanechanger" mirror (do a google search). Sticks to the top of the OEM mirror, you can still see with your stock mirror. Dirt cheap, you can get them ~$15. It interferes with the sunvisors a bit.

JC Whitney seem to be the ticket. They have wink mirrors in 3 & 4 panel design and like four different parabolic style from 10-18". All are under $20.
