smog pump trouble
Hi all,
I recently purchased a 1975 911s with a '81 3.0 911SC engine in it. The car runs fine, however the auxilliary air pump that reduces emissions was disconnected when I purchased the vehicle. We have emissions testing up here in British Columbia, so I need the pump to pass. I've done a couple of thread searches but haven't found this topic really covered. When I reinstalled the belt and started the motor, I discovered that the air pump's pulley was frozen and would not turn. I backed the nut off a little but still nothing. Is there some sort of internal pump clutch that I need to disengage or am I likely just faced with a frozen pump? I notice that Pelican does not have smog pumps, so I'm wondering what my options are for replaceing or rebuilding it if necessary. Are there comprable pumps that will do the job? thanks! |
