Another Hesitator, 85 this time
I have a feeling it is fuel related, but not sure where to start. Symptoms seem a bit different than other posts.
When I hit the gas, I get a blip to about 1.5k, then a very brief hesitation. After the initial blip-hesitation, I get full, smooth power all the way, at any rpm's, in any gear. Any time I let off the gas completely (for example, to shift) I get the same blip-hesitation when I come back on the gas. I have had to make my shifting slower to compensate. Plugs, rotor, cap look good upon inspection (gap, carbon, etc.) I've got a new fuel filter, valve adjust a couple thousand ago in early July, new air filter. I ran some gumout through a tank of gas a couple weeks ago hoping that may help the problem, no luck. Any Ideas? Does this sound like an O2 or mixture problem? Fuel line? Check all vacuum lines for leak. If no leaks it might be fuel mixture.

Gum out is a NO NO .
That's for carburetors. I had a similar problem ran some Red Line with a fresh tank of gas , runs like a rocket . Lucas Cylinder head additive is great too!! Vinnie from Ventura 1989 911 3.2 |

Let me know if you ever figure out the cause!
Mine is around the 3k range under medium to full throttle... I've checked all vacuum lines, replaced DME relay, CHT sensor, speed sensor, flywheel ref. sensor, plugs, wires, o2 sensor, cap & rotor, fuel pump, regulator, battery, battery connectors, new ground wire & grounding strap, also swapped from a good running '85 - fuel rails, air meter, computer, and still the problem exists...

Sounds like a bad spot on the MAF (never can remember correct nomenclature for this part, the air flow sensor) resistor. Many posts and a link to a very good "how to" article somewhere on this forum. Try a search.

Bad spot??? You've certainly piqued my curiosity....
However, a MAF swap was performed with a good running car, with no change in the symptoms in my car......
