Question Rocker rubber question

About 2 months ago, a body shop did some work on my car and had to remove the rocker panel rubber. Well, I JUST NOW noticed that on the driver's side there's about 1/8" in the middle of the rubber that's pulled away from the car. The passenger side is perfect and I know the driver's side was fine before this "repair". Could this cause a problem with rust or anything?

If it's the same as my 89, the rocker rubber strip has a groove that mates up with a lip on the metal rocker panel. Maybe the groove has become dislodged, or there is some debris stuck in there.

You might try pushing it back, or even removing the rocker panel (unscrew caps at either end, then several screws through the bottom edge of the panel) and re-seating the rubber strip.

I have always removed rivets with a drill. Use a large bit so you're grinding away the head. Afterwards, pop rivet guns aren't very expensive Sears, etc.), or you might can use a sheet metal screw.

Yes. You may have to use some light taps with a punch and hammer, but once the head is gone what is left will go back through the hole. Look at an used rivet and it will make sense. The outer head is formed at the factory. The inner one is formed when you pull the nail looking thing (don't know the proper term). You end up with a narrow shaft with expanded heads on both ends.
