LA Porsche Dismantler a trustworthy business?

Im considering the purchase of a G50 6 speed from LA Porsche Auto Dismantler. http://www.911pcar.com/index.htm

Are they a reputable business? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

David

I've found them to be quite good (and easy) to deal with.

Some local businesses around here have made the occasional disparaging remark, but a lot of it may be jealousy. The owner was a self-made millionaire in his late 20s...

as long as you keep them so. I got a 993 3.6 from them, they didn't send the exhaust parts with it. some it turns out were damaged from a rear ender, others were just not accounted for. as with any vendor, make your deal clear up front. some shops, whether by intent or not, have cash management issues and that leads them to search for missing money and that comes via margin. I personally, never buy anything without a lot research first. and that comes from good advice I didn't listen to the first time...

I purchased a pair of 8"x16" Fuchs from them last fall. They were delivered on time and in good condition. I don't have any experience with mechanical parts from them. Others here have had some issues...I'm sure they will post their opinions.

I purchased a 3.2 engine from them and it checked out perfectly. Nice people and easy to deal with, wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them in the future.

Collecting parts for a GTM? What else have you picked up?
If you haven't completely committed yet to LA Dismantlers you could always call parts heaven (www.partsheaven.com 1.800.767.7250).

They also have a good reputation for parts.

Todds a very honest guy. I've known him since he was a kid. I do business with them regularly. He also lives about three blocks from my shop so if you ever had a bad encounter I can personally go egg his house for you.

I bought a rear deck lid from them a few months ago. it was complete with all electric parts and hinges. They were prompt and it got to Canada in less than a week. They said they couldn't take a Canadian Visa card so I had to send a Bank draft which felt a bit uneasy. But no problem.

I picked up an 89 930 complete suspension (bought through GPC Turbo aka Gordon) with no problems whatsoever.

Personaly do not like dealing with these places - BUT I did in fact buy a 1995 993 motor from this place w/out dissapointment.

They even delieverd it (one hour away) AND allowed me to do a compression test before I paid.... that was the deal I made.

Be sure to itemize EVERYTHING that you are to receive... down to the nut.....

Also don't be scared to haggle - there is a substantial overhead in storing "parts" AND they have a buttload of them....
