calculate downforce of spoiler?

Would anyone here be able to calculate the downforce of this rear wing?

Let's see,

2 feet of 2x4 = 1.5 lbs
3 feet of 2x6 = 6.5 lbs
Assorted screws and fasteners - 2 oz.

Yup! 8 lbs, 2 oz. of downforce.

Now your figures are forgetting one very important varialbe. Is the lumber treated?
And don't forget about the screws are they A P screws or did he use decking bolts? If nails were used it has to be classed as the gt lightweight version.

Have the same picture on the wall of the control room at Aerodyne. It's been calculated and recalculated and it just gets more and more all the time.

Actually, I bet it does produce some force - tho whether up or down can't be determined... guess the guy (if it's not just a Photoshop image) doesn't know about airfoils.

It will sure add to drag tho.
