Wheel spacer ? - Too Big???
Hello,
I am looking to fit 17 " 2002 996 wheels on a 78 SC. In test fitting , they would fit with a least 1.5 inch spacer, maybe more like 1.75 inches. My question, is there a problem with too big a spacers? It is a track car so i am worried about too much stress on things. Thanks, earl

I've seen spacers for turbos that were up to 3 inches. If your going to track the car, you need to know what is allowed. Some allow spacers with built in studs and some require spacers that use long studs. If you get spacers with studs, get the stronger 7075 alloy instead of 6061.

Yes bolt pattern is the same.
Thanks if I do it I will get the spacers with studs ( 7075). I was wonder what additional stress and on what is created by spacers. Thanks Earl

No additional stress on your suspension since the centerline of your wheels remain the same.
