Cold Start Problem 74 911S 2.7
The car takes a few times cranking to start the car when cold. The throttle level is raise a little bit. The runs very well after it get going.
What might be the problem? Does it have a cold start valve? Does it have a thermo timer during start? 1974 911 S 2.7 |

Your car does have a cold start valve and a thermo time switch. It could be something else but I had a similar problem. The wire from my starter to the cold start valve was incorrectly wired. Very difficult to start but ran fine once started. You may also have a problem with you Warm Up Regulater. You need to start by checking you system pressures. You need a CIS fuel system pressure tester to start with.

Before tearing into it......Trying cranking with the throttle lever all the way up....You don't trigger the micro-switch for the Cold Start valve/warm up regulator until then.....

Are you using the Hand Throttle? You shouldn't have to pump the pedal if it's adjusted right. When the Hand Throttle is all the way up it should close the micro-switch for the cold start circuit.
