How does $42k for a 96 C4S sound?

80k miles, Polar Silver, recent top end and clutch ($8k). Interior is mint exterior has nicks and dents but OK for a 80k mile car. KBB.com says $32k, but that seems too low.

I would go with $38K as a good middle ground. How do the brakes and tires look?

These are around $52-$55k with low miles (20-30k miles). 42k sounds fairly reasonable to me.

New S03s all around, brakes were OK. Has Euro suspension (M030?) and Xe lights.

I think 42k is a little 2 much for 80k mile car. It should not cost more than 40k. You can get 97 with 50k miles for less than 44k.
My $0.02

Alf, You are on 911 posts right now, you better post 82 more posts to buy a 993...thought that was kinda cool. I think low 40's for a 2s or 4s car sounds about right. I have a 96 cab w/ 67K that has a few small isues that I am looking for around $30k for. On your car, new top end is good, dings and dents can be pretty spendy. Title is clear I take it.

Yes, clear title no accidents, of course will have to do a PPI on it first.

I really really like the Roach and it is all sorted out, but the C4S has a really nice tight ass and she is also ~10 yrs younger, ummm

Even if money was not an issue, i will still have to think hard about it. Wife says whatever you want to do is fine. Will need to sleep on it.

Hey Alf, have you seen this car in Issaquah?
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=187420171

At $49.9k it's quite a bit more than the car you are looking at, but it's got a lot going for it for that price:

It's a 2S not a 4S (I would personally prefer a 2S).
2 years newer (plus 1998 was the last year).
Nearly half the miles (45k).
Brembo GTP's.
"Euro height" (coilovers?).
Motor sound package.

Thank your lucky stars those a so cheap in the States. These still sell for $110k-$120k here in Australia (mid $80k USD)

We pay an unbelievable amount of tax on import luxury cars

I think 42K is to much I sold my 96 C4S in excellent condition with 28,000 miles and well optioned for $47,500. I was asking 49,000 and had a hard time moving it.

I slept on it and decided to stay with the Roach...again. It is just too hard to let it go and 993s are not getting more expensive.
