930 Front Brake Rotor Picture.......

Could someone please help me get a picture/s of a 930 front brake rotor either installed or disassembled? Looked at several 911 maintenance manuals without luck.

Thanks in advance.

('80-'89) 1- piece rotors......

Bill V.,

The 1-piece rotor ('80-'89) shown above are for the rear? I was hoping to find a 1-piece OEM rotor (930) that I could convert/use in the front (brake upgrade conversion).

What after market front rotor do you recommend with 993 caliper to be installed on SC car? I have a set for 993 calipers and rotors for both front and rear awaiting application. Thanks.

The second pic is the front 1 piece used from '80 -'89. It cannnot be used on a narrow fender car. Only w/ 930 front 9" flares.

At least 4 ways to go for use w/ 993 front calipers

you can modify your hubs and use 993 304x32 1 piece front rotors, I believe that Slider79 did this

You can buy a set of 309x32 2 piece Wilwood rotors and hat from dinftown

You can buy a set of 2 piece 304x32 Colaman rotors and hats from VCI

You can buy a set of cut down 304x32 Brembos 2 piece rotors and hats form Steve Weiner

in the back you will want '78 -89 930 rear rotors w/ 965 or 993 rear calipers

I got 4 Options......

Bill. V.,

Thank you very much for the well written 4 options you have given me (us). They are very informative, clear, and concise. I couldn't have asked for more. It's just now a matter which direction to go.

I have 3 sets of 911 Fuch wheels (6", 7" & 8") and believe none of these wheels will fit in any of the 4 options. I could be wrong.

What wheel/s will work well for the above options (SC car)? Again, I would not have planned to take on this project without your guidance and help. Thanks.

6", 7" & 8" wheels......

All these wheels are 16" diameter 911 Fuch wheels. Prefer to stay 16" and save some of these wheels.

W/911 7x16 you will need ~6mm spacer in front. w/ a 944 7x16 or 8 x16 you will need nothing.

The 993 set up will give you a huge increase in thermal reserves and potential brake torque, I would want 7 or 8 fronts w/ 225/50 and 9 w/245/45 x16 to take advantage of the increased stopping power.

There are several different designs, but the idea is to allow either a degree of radial or axial movement of the rotor relative to it's hat(somethimes both degrees of freedom are allowed) which is solidly bolted to the hub/ spindle assembly.

This allowable "movement" serves several purposes.

allows more perfect alignment of the rotors w/ their pads
decouples the heat in the rotor from the hub
lightens the rotating assembly
allows for differential thermal growth of the rotating assembly
