Do we think this HP is for real??
Check out this 930 on ebay
I'm thinking 700 HP is a bit aggressive?? What do you think it will go for?? Seems turbo pricing is on the increase again..

That listing is no longer available.
ProtoTECH is a subsidiary of Protomotive, who specialise in single and twin turbo conversions on 911's. 700HP would be insane! That's probably on race gas though, with a tonne of boost. They typically achieve ~600HP @ 1.25bar on a 3.3L EFI'd motor ![]() That car might have a 3.5 or 3.6L motor in it ![]()

The link's not working for me. I found the car though. 700hp is probably possible on this car at the 1.4bar boost they're quoting. If it's been run very long at that boost on pump gas the engine is probably toast. I don't see why they used the Motronic FI. All that money and they didn't use a MAP system instead of the Carrera air flapper?
I think they'll be lucky to see $35K.

AND the reserve hasn't been met..
Here's another new one as well Man if they are getting these prices, I'm glad I invested in a 930 and not the stock market

125shifter, Protomotive/ProtoTech tune the Motronic for pump gas. They limit their pump gas boost to 1.2-1.25bar. Any higher and they recommend running a mix of pump & race gas.
This car would definately be capable of 700HP, but I doubt the owner would risk running that car at 1.4bar on crappy pump gas. Doesn't it say "standard 475HP setting"? That must be on a more pump gas friendly boost level I'd say.

I guess using Motronic keeps it reliable, but without being able to change the mapping for the better fuel they're not optimizing for all the power they could make. Do they have some way to switch between fuel and ignition maps?

The Proto guys do all sorts of amazing circuit level stuff with the OEM Motronic DME's, so I wouldn't be surprised.
They can actually take your factory Carrera DME and modify it for MAP Pressure Sensing for US$2k and supply you with the live tuning software for dynamic programming on the dyno! No need to run new looms, sensors etc... I think it's a very feasible upgrade path. Certainly cheaper than an aftermarket solution.
