I am not into 911 motor conversions but this is unreal!

01 Boxster "S" motors for $5K!!!. There is a bunch of them listed for this price from dismantlers. The regular Boxster motors are even cheaper.

Would this not be the ultimate engine swap for a 911?? 250 easy HP from a flat 6 Porsche motor!

I know its water cooled but at least its designed to be mounted in the back and cooled at the front. They are looking for offers too. I am thinking you could get the harness's and brains and maybe the radiators for a full price bid???

I wonder what the dimensions are on these. They eye ball pretty close to an oil cooled motor.

Here is the link.

TRE its time to crank this up. I wonder how hard it would be to mate to a 915.

Heck I for a few more bucks you could run a 996 280+ hp motor. What do you guys think, who will be first! Do it nice and you are guaranteed to make Excellence :-))

The problem with these motors is that you need to have the DME, the key, and the imobiliser all sync'ed together. So, you'd have to replace a lot of electronics, and they are integrated with the car's harness too. The best way to put one of these in another car would be to use an aftermarket engine management system, as these engines are too specific to the car they are built for. The DME has the VIN number programmed in, and if there's any little thing amiss, then it won't fire up...

Hmm would it be hard to put an S motor in a regular Boxster? Seems like you would have the same problem.

After market injection scares me off. I am too cheap. Maybe PMOs and a Clewett DIS would be Ok.

Wayne,

I could make it work with a set of webers or PMO carbs a lot quicker and cheaper.

This could be interesting...

I have a better idea. Early 911 body conversions for Boxsters.

I wonder if 2,500 Boxsters for sale on AutoTrader is avg at any given time?
Or are people making room for the Cayman?

An 'S' motor in a regular Boxster would probably work, but you would need the DME, the imobiliser, and the transponder from the key. I would suspect that you would have to closely match year for year with the engine...

There is a questionably tasteful/less conversion to a 550ish body for the Boxster.
