diagnosing CV joint failure
Yesterday I posted a request for help regarding a new noise in the rear of the car. Noise from the right rear when turning left or right. Didn't hear the noise when I turned while letting the car coast in neutral. No noise when going straight. The more I think and read about it, the more I think it may well be CV joint failure. What is the best way to test for CV joint problems?

Make sure that the Allen bolts for the axle shafts are tight.
There are 6 per CV joint. If they are tight and the rubber boots are good, just keep driving. But, if your CV joints are old and you don't know when they were last serviced, consider taking them off for cleaning, inspecting and greasing. Do a search on this board under CV; lots of info. |
