Dashboard layout inqueries
My friend has recently purchased a 1975 911S. Unfortunately this is his first car and he is lacking his manual. We are trying to figure out if the car is safe to drive or not considering the blinking lights that appear during every drive he takes.
A light labelled "B" blinks as soon as the system receives power and only ends when it gets shut down. At first we thought it was the emergency brake, but that didn't shut it down. other posts suggested the door light, but we can not confirm. If someone could atleast tell us where to start troubleshooting from (we have a Haynes manual on the way) by telling us what the light is I would be most appreciative. thanks. |

Hengenojutsu,
The B on the dash is for Brake. My owners manual says the following, "The brake warning light (red) monitors the parking brake as well as the hydraulic brake system. It flashes when the ignition is on and goes out when the parking brake is fully released and the engine is running. If the brake warning light fails to come on (ignition on), the bulb should be checked. When the warning light comes on while you are applying the brakes, one of the two brake circuits may have failed. In this case the other one will still operate, but a longer distance and greater pedal pressure are required to bring the car to a halt." If your light is on all the time, I would check the switch that operates when the parking brake is released. It may be out of adjustment, or broken. Rex
