master cyl. actuating rod on the brake pedal?

I remember reading in the past about a LONGER version of the actuating rod that presses on the master cylinder plunger (goes inside it). I have the "normal" version of that rod. It screws into a threaded, pivoting coupler on the brake pedal arm, and presses on the master cyl. when brakes are applied.

I've installed a new master cylinder, different size from my previous stock 19mm and the brake pedal rod is too short, even when unscrewed as much as I dare to lengthen it.

Is anyone aware of the longer version of that part or maybe how to modify the existing one?

thanks.

VCI has the rods and also the new feed lines to clear the steering cross member. I think Steve W at Rennsport also has them.

just b/c I "could", and also b/c I don't have any patience I've decided to make my own. Took a 5" bolt w/ the same thread and with the help of Pelicanite "jazzbass'" air grinder I went to town. Once I ground off the hex head, it was time to get fancy LOL

here's the rough finish:

and assembled w/ the full polish :

LOL, while I didn't get the kit, I did get the master from Steve Weiner but I guess I wasn't clear on the fact that I need that too. Do all years require this longer actuator or just the early cars?

All thru '76 need it. The other needed part is the angled feed fitting

LOL, you're on the money there! It is the only part that I'm not quite sure how to handle. Right now I have the angled feed fitting going into the grommet from the feedline. I have a slight drip coming from that connection. I think the problem is that the grommet on the feedline is designed to go *into* the master and not to accept another tube into it, at least not w/ a good seal. I think I'm going to do away w/ the grommet and use a piece of hose to connect the feed line to the angled fitting.

thanks again Bill. I'm glad that on my own I've managed to arrive at the reasonable solution and away from something ridiculous- my homebrew 'inventions' have a way of failing me

I think that the vci rod is just a metric bolt of the correct diameter with the head cut off and the cut radiused; at least that is what mine looks like.

in that case Greg, it's only about a 1/2 hour worth of time w/ a well-powered grinder
