How do I attach a replica Paint Code Plate?
Just wondering If anyone had some tips on installing a replica Paint Code Plate. Also can anyone post a picture of an original paint plate for a '69? Thanks!

I am doing this soon as well; I believe that the correct method is to use expanding rivets, available from Stoddards. This topic has been covered at length here:

Dunno; I'd ask this question on the Early 911 BBS; you'll get more responses.

I am planning to attach my replica paint tag for the '71 Targa with adhesive. I will glue the rivets in the holes in the plate and then glue the tag on the door post. I am not even going to attempt to use the rivets to hold it on.

Brian, I went to nuts and bolts specialty store in my town and asked it they had "drive screws". The man knew exactly what I was talking about. I showed him the paint code plate and told him I needed the smallest they had. He came back with 4 drive screws that will work perfectly. The drive screws just tap in and the heads look like the originals.

Anyone have a picture of an original pre 1972 911 paint code plate?
In '72 Porsche change the format of the code. I know the older code format is XXXX-X, but is this the only code on the older plates? Anyone have any luck matching the font of the code?

I had done a search on Pelican and could not find the paint code plate, so I got mine a www.*************. I don't know about the VIN number plate.
