78SC Euro "Turn Signal Relay" Question...
(I ordered a Bentley Service Manual for help on this electrical question, but it hasn't shipped yet...)
Can another 78SC owner confirm if the turn signal switch (or realy as it were) should have 3 or 4 prongs? I refer to the switch located in front that controls turn signal blinkers. I bought one from another vendor (not Pelican, shame on me) that was 3 pronged, and it did not work (although it was slated to work in my 78 911 SC) My old switch (that works) has 4 prongs. The new switch (that doesn't work) only has 3. Could the Euro models be different in this regard? Here's a pic of the 3 pronged that did NOT work: ![]()

Sounds like heresay, but have actually gone down to the local autoparts store and bought a 4 prong relay...and it worked. Now, I've been told the non-Porsche (or Bosch, or whomever makes the oem types) cause both turn signal idicators to blink simultaneously in the cabin.......but you do get used to it. You could even disconnect one, at least you'd be right half the time.

Erakad -- when you say disconnect one - what "one" are you referring to?
Also - I have seen both turn signals indicators blink simultaneously in my cabin - but have attributed it to bad wiring in the installation of a aftermarket alarm sysem. I've seen this behavior with BOTH relays -- the 3 and the 4 prong. (!?!?!?!?) I'm awaiting my Bentley manual to shed more light on the problem. So is it consensus that the correct relay for my 78SC Euro would be the one that has FOUR prongs, and not THREE?

I've got a couple of these lying around...definetly mine is a 4 prong.
I've tried tracking down the electronics of why both lights blink when I signal either left or right...nothing made a difference. Someone on the PP board said only the oem ones (the oem turnsignal relays) blink either left or right, the off the shelf ones blink both. When I suggested disconnecting "one", I was referring to the turnsignal lights in the cabin on the tachometer. Actually, one of mine is burned out at the moment and I've been a bit lazy replacing it. It's nice when I turn right...only one light lights up, but then of course, when I turn left only one light lights up (it just happens to be the right light ![]()

Rob - no offense, but that would drive me NUTS.
![]() Also, would it qualify for a tech-inspection?
