obrut,
Things have been going a little slow on the C4RSR. It has a low priory in the shop.
We have been to busy working on customer jobs and haven't been doing to much to it. We haven't stopped working on it though. I will take some pics of it this Friday and up date you guys.

Kraftwerk,
You are right they are kinda like sculpture.
Thou I have never thought of it that way.
I think of it more like Porsche art.
This car is really being built more as a cool street car that you can drive every day. As well take to the track and have a little fun with.
It will have all the comfort stuff like AC, heat ,cruse control and stereo.

obrut 12-18-2005 08:55 PM

thanks for the note don - i'm really looking forward to seeing how you treat the areas under the rockers covers.

Porsche Doc 12-19-2005 06:14 PM

Well Guys,
I have now desided to do the C4RSR with the blue trim.
I think it will look great.
Since my man edesign45 the Photoshop Wiz did the one with the
blue grafx its been eating at me.
And I was feeling blue today also so I desided turn that blue into something CooL.
I even did a little pole a few months ago on the color grafx you guys think it should be done in.
#1 White with Blue 12 48.00% #2 White with Black 6 24.00% #3 White with Other 5 20.00% #4 White with Red 2 8.00% with a Total of 25 votes.
I just finished a 76 RSR White with Black grafx so it is time for the blue one.

That'll be lookin' good Doc! Very cool.....

Cheers

edesign45 12-20-2005 08:37 AM

Blue is cool Doc, way to go, turn that frown upside down!

Happy Holidays!

jjwood 12-20-2005 07:58 PM

Yo Doc -- blue is good. But what's next? Of the original colors I think all you've got left is lime(ish) green.

Hey btw --- keep it up. You're doing great work. I'm sure there are many (self included) that are envious of your approach to earning a living.

New Stuff going on

Jeremy,
Thanks Man!:o

Well here is some of the stuff we have been doing on the project.

The front fenders are well on there way to getting done.
They almost just bolted on. We had to some trimming on the chassis a little. They went on easer the fiberglass ones!
Here is a few pics of the work.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1135224873.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1135224908.jpg

See Part 2 foor some real work.

Porsche Doc 12-21-2005 07:37 PM

More part 2

Well since we are going to use a steel long hood.
We desided to make the hood latch the proper way. :D
So! We cut out the C4 stuff and then welded in a latch panel section that we cut out of a 1967 912.
Dano fix it right up and it works like a charm. ;)
Little more finish work and it will get the DONE stamp!
Its going to paint & body NEXT. :)
But! Well thats the busiest part of the shop and it will going kinda piece meel for a wile.
I am trying to have it done in April 06.
Here some pics. SorrY! about the pics quality I aint no phototog:o

jjwood 12-22-2005 07:51 AM

Don -- tks for the update. What would estimate the labor hours were to backdate the latchpanel?

bigrubberjeep 12-22-2005 09:30 AM

Moment of silence for the 67 912 please XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Porsche Doc 12-22-2005 05:06 PM

Jeremy,
I have no real idea Dano has be working on it the last few days.
It was a lot of tricky work, the most so far.
We were in uncharted territory on this one.
But NOW it all mached up and ready for the body shop to do the rest. It will all get painted white with the body.

bigrubberjeep,
Thanks! :( Think of it as an organ donor.:D
Now it will live on in this car that is 23 years younger.
Life goes on. :)
I used the 67 912 piece because it didn't have the hole for the washer bottle.
It was in great shape so we used it. The rest of the car is history.

Here is what it looks like all mached up.

No biggie Don, my first Porsche was a pearly white 67 912 (Love at first sight), car was sold back in 1998 due to low compression issues and what not for less then $2500 (I was not in good financial state at the time)

What's with these cars? Why do we get emotionaly attached to them anyhow, they are just cars.

The only version you haven't done is one with the black grafx.
In the color pole I did a few months ago I think wht/blk came in 3rd.

Would you PleasE! give us black.
Oh! Couldya make the paddles on the wheels polished looking. Like Jacks. Please! Couldya! Couldya! :D

Don, by any chance do you have the color name or code for the blue that was used on the centers of the Fuchs on the white Carrera with blue stripes in one of the early post pictures? If so could you send it to me here or in a PM? Or was that photoshop job?

Thanks,
Ed

Porsche Doc 12-23-2005 07:09 AM

Hey Ed,
Sorry! I don't have the color yet. Eric did the photoshop thing on it.
But, I will know the color soon. I have already ordered the blue grafx kit.
When it comes in I will have the paint company color scan it.
That way they'll match. :D
That's what I did on the wht/red RSR and it worked out great.

Hey Guys,
Well the project has been goin a little slow.
Do to the shop is very busy on customers cars, and the customer comes first!
We have got just about all the mach ups done and everything fits really very nice. :D
I have ordered the wheels from Mike Lindsey with all the secret offsets. ;) 9.5's & 11's X 17's
I have got the sport shocks, springs, big reds, and some of the other goody for the car here already.
I am waiting on the body shop division to getter painted.
BUT! There are the busiest guys in the shop right now.
So I am in a long line.
Get the wheels on and it IS gona really look like a 73 RSR. :D
I'll get some pics of the front end. For some reason they won't load for now.

Gus

Porsche Doc 01-26-2006 07:39 AM

I am also thinking about having them done the RSR frosted look.

The fronts will have a front offset like a regular 8" or a little less.
The fronts are the challenge on the wheel deal.
The rears will be about an inch deeper than the front.
The wheel offsets are very close to that you would use on a 930 turbo.
The way makes the wheels, they look deeper than they really are.
Optical illusion thing going on there.
Check out the wheels on this 3.8RSR look car we did. Also the the 11" wheel that Mike made me. It looks like it's a lot deeper than it really is.

Don

Can you tell me about the front bumper used on this car (99)?

Would it be possible to mount this on a short hood car ('80) without significant alteration? It looks like a bolt-on product. I'm looking for something in FRP other than the typical RSR bumper for a short hood RSR track car.

Porsche Doc 01-26-2006 08:00 PM

C2 3.8RSR

Hey Man!
Yes,It will fit on your car. That car is a 92 C2.
The front end on that car is a C2 turbo with spliter.
We got it from Hank at GT Racing.
That whole car is fiberglass except the lower section of the tub.:D
