How to ID a 915 transmission

Hi, I've found a few previous threads on this, but I have a query. After degreasing my tranny casing of my 85 911 (euro model), I found a serial number on the side of the casing, see below.

The number appears to read: 930 . 101. 103. 6R

and on the other side there is a number which I think is

930. 101. 105. 4R or something like that.

I don't think this is actually the 915 tranny id, but what is it?

"that's the engine"

HAHAHA what a classic display of newbie-ness by me.

Sorry, guys, I will go back to degreasing and hopefully learn something.

Cheers

RG5.

RG5, good sense of humor buddy!

On the bottom of the tranny you'll find horizontal surface about a half inch wide and 2-3 inches long with a seven digit (I think) number that begins with a 7. On transmissions that have been out and slid around a shop, the numbers can be hard to see.

Find the number and post back here and we'll decipher it.
