Front wheels dont spin freely.

After re-packing my CV joints after a thorough cleaning (messy job) I was checking my brakes to see how long I can wait until I change the pads (not long). I noticed how much tighter the front wheels are to hand spin them. Is this normal? are there any zirks (sp) that I can shoot some grease into ? or is that an American idea? Dont believe the wheel bearings are a problem as it seems there is no noise or looseness in the play of the front wheels. Drives much better with fresh grease in the CV Joints but now I am concerned about the front wheels?

You CAN put zirc fittings in the caps....but the hub caps might not fit over them unless you have spacers.

The blue nitrile gloves are a good investment.

There are three things that come to mind that could cause this. (Assuming that your wheel bearings are in good condition and adjusted properly)

1. The flexible brake lines may be breaking down. (like a restricted artery)
2. The rubber dust boots on the calipers are shot and not letting the brake pads pull back properly.
3. Your master cylinder may be saying goodbye.

You may also have warped front rotors...
