Ideas for blocking front vent after fan removal??

Does anybody have any BTDT for the front vent to keep water from entering after you remove the trunk blower and all that garbage in the front?

I would like to keep the mesh screen to keep the original appearance from the outside. I was thinking some thin metal and fabricate a block off behind the mesh with some sealer to keep it waterproof?

Thanks -

maybe a '68 and earlier style collector trough with drain hose.

Hmmmm...

'68' and earlier vent served no internal function for air circulation to the cabin?

I didn't want to install a drain for water - just block it in the first place. This is all for weight savings.

You're pretty much going to have to install a drain if you keep the stock mesh. Blocking it off will allow water to collect and pool below the surface of the mesh; not a good thing,
